When you ask yourself, what helped me feel joy and cultivate the good?, The happiness you feel is connected to the goodness towards me in others. I am hopeful for peace one day if we make this practice and the science behind it a priority in our daycares, schools, and businesses. For some reason, I received the cozy sensation of a first bite of a marshmallow. 🙂 Thank you. I did not feel selfish because if I focus on positive connectivity, I am providing the same kind of positive growth to whatever I am connecting by focusing on goodness. I look forward to see how your goodness connects to raising awareness of the International Day of Peace, September 21.
Thank you. I am following the Science of Well-being course on line and your fireside chats and meditations will reinforce the knowledge and practice to fully adopt the new habits to support feeling more joy, happiness, gratitude, savouring and increasing fulfilment in life. I look forward to the next two weeks of meditations.
Oh fantastic Sue! Love that they can complement each other.
I love hearing research about the brain. It is so fascinating how we have the power to change and strengthen those neurological pathways. Thanks so much for the reminder and tools to help us cultivate joy in our lives!
It is so fascinating Sylvia! I’m so glad you have joined us in the challenge! I honor your dedication to the cultivation of joy!
Very helpful in visualizing new neuron pathways forming and old negative ones shrinking. Thank you.🙏
Yes the neural pathways are powerful! Thank you for sharing!
This was terrific! I listened to the Fireside Chat first and it really opened me up to the meditation. I learned so much. The Chat motivated me to be more consistent with meditation, to build practices that strengthen my positivity muscles, and to notice and savor joy much more frequently. Thank you! This was a real mind shift for me and I want to learn more about neuroplasticity!! Well done, Vanessa. I plan to listen to both the meditation and the FC again (and probably again …). 😊
Ooo yes, neuroplasticity is a very interesting topic Jennifer! Strengthen those positivity muscles! I appreciate your kind words and hope you come back to listen to both as many time as you like!
My instincts for most of my life have been to focus on the positive. But so much of my business life has borne out that i’ve naturally focused in the negative – and fixing it. What I heard today confirms so much.
Thank you for the permission, nay the impetus, to focus more on the good. I’m confident that more good will come of this.
That is fantastic Matt. I honor your breakthrough for yourself in this area. More good is on it’s way.
very beautiful
Thank you for saying so Zaneta!
What an interesting topic this one of neuroplasticity, how amazing and reassuring is to learn we can rewire our brains in a positive way…can we have more pls 🤗
Yes, it is amazing! And gives us so much hope if we continue to inhale peace and calm energy. So glad you enjoyed this one!
Excellent!! I listened to the chat first, and it really opened me up and made the meditation more powerful. I plan to listen to both again (and again…). I had heard about neuroplastocity before, but your talk made me much more intrigued. I want to learn more! Your chat really fueled my motivation to try and reframe my perspectives more habitually. It was very encouraging, motivating, educational and also practical … all at once. Thank you! Bravo!
That is good to know! Others may want to try out listening to the chat first to see how it benefits the meditation. Thank you for sharing Jennifer. So much wisdom you have found as well!
Thank you so much. I loved your fireside chat. It was super relevant for me. I’ve just read Blake Crouch’s books Dark Matter and Recursion and while they’re fast read fiction they definitely tie into the science you’re talking about!
That’s great to hear you loved the fireside chat! And I’ll definitely check out those books, I’m always looking for new fiction recs. 🙂
Very enjoyable fireside chat. So true!!
Thank you Julie, I’m glad to hear it resonated!
Really enjoyed the opportunity to savor the fine experiences of my day. I’m going to make it a point to look for and honor these. Thank you Vanessa! By the way, it has been a wonderful experience to share with my partner from your earlier 30 day meditation. We have been writing everyday since and will also share this. Since she is from another country our sharing has been extremely enriching. Thank you again Vanessa! Her name is also Vanessa!
aww, how beautiful Karen! I’m honored that these challenges have created an opportunity for you and your partner from the earlier 30 day challenge to connect and continue to share with each other. That’s awesome!!! (and so is her name…haha)
Really enjoying meditations and chats. Learning so much. Letting the visualization sink in felt terrific. Bought me right back to how I felt in my positive memory way back when!
Yay! That’s great to hear Laurie. I’m thrilled that you’re enjoying the meditations and chats. Thanks for joining us!
Really enjoyed the fireside chat today. The topic is becoming more prevalent in articles. Do you have any reading that you would recommend to dive deeper on neural plasticity?
Hi Brad,
Yes! There’s tons of it depending on whether you prefer more cerebral or not. I shared some of the most cutting edge research in this article: https://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-23072/how-to-rewire-your-brain-be-better-at-life-according-to-science.html
I’m a big fan of Rick Hanson’s work, check out his book Hardwiring Happiness: https://amzn.to/2Rw4IpL or his audio CD with meditations to change your brain: http://amzn.to/1OfQIH9. Or you can check out his more recent book: “Resilient: How to Grow an Unshakable Core of Calm, Strength, and Happiness”: https://amzn.to/2X5z7AY. I haven’t read it yet but heard it’s great.
I also have a friend who’s been going through an intensive training to rewire her neurology using this system called DNRS (dynamic neural retraining system) retrainingthebrain.com or just search DNRS. She RAVES about it!
A thousand thanks, Vanessa for the neuroplasticity introduction and sharing these sources. Yes, I’ve been doing this kind of thinking, but you opened new facets of it, helping me to see the benefits I have been given and much more about how and why. I’ve only scratched the surface, but I’ll be digging into it seriously.
Wonderful! Yes, the neuroscience is fascinating and also so encouraging. Enjoy digging into it more. 🙂
Meant to say what an awesome fireside chat (my computer’s way of self-correcting:))
haha! totally get it, glad you’re here.
What an assume fireside chat! Love it!!
Thanks Ulrika! So glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
